Description
Moon jellyfish (Aurelia aurita). Congregations of this common jellyfish can be found in coastal waters throughout the world. The moon jellyfish can grow up to 40 centimetres in diameter and moves by pulsating movements of its bell. It feeds on plankton, which becomes entangled in mucus on its body surface. Flagellae then move the food along channels to its stomach. Photograph in the Red Sea, Egypt.
